Community Rock Star Awards
The Maine Academy of Modern Music celebrates champions of music and community through our Community Rock Star awards. This honor recognizes individuals whose advocacy and meaningful contributions transform Maine's creative landscape. These individuals exemplify the spirit of community stewardship. Awards will be presented at PreSurgam.
Community Sponsor Award: BAYSIDE BOWL
Bayside Bowl has created countless opportunities for MAMM's young musicians to perform. Their support of emerging talent and commitment to making their world-class venue available to performers of all ages has helped countless Maine musicians find their voice and audience. Bayside represents the perfect blend of national excellence and hometown heart that keeps Portland's music scene thriving.
Community Partner Award: boys & girls clubs of southern maine
Since 1931, the Boys & Girls Club on Cumberland Avenue has been transforming young lives. Their partnership with MAMM brings weekly music instruction directly to hundreds of children who might otherwise miss these opportunities. This year, it also included an open mic and concert from Random Ideas. The Club's dedication to making the arts accessible for all Portland youth exemplifies the community-first approach that makes them true rockstars.
COMMUNITY Champion Award: Brian corcoran
From Drive Fore Kids to Carnaval ME, Brian (a.k.a. BC) has been doing phenomenal work for children in Maine and has raised thousands of dollars for the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and The Dempsey Center. Keep an eye out, as BC and his team may be bringing some mini-golf fun to Resurgam Fest this year!
Tickets will be available through June 3rd
Please note that purchasing tickets the day of the event is not an option.
MAINE Music Community Leader: HERB IVY
Herb has been rocking the air waves with WBLM for decades and has presented countless music fans and musicians across Maine with some amazing opportunities over the years. Herb's unwavering support of the local music scene (including our young rock star students!) makes him a true "Captain" of Maine's music community.
Maine Music Educator OF THE YEAR: SUE BARRE
Earlier this month we surprised Sue Barre on her home turf at Waterville High School by recognizing her as MAMM's 2025 Maine Music Educator of the Year in front of her students. She has been bringing modern band programming to kids in Central Maine for years, both through her classes at Waterville High School and as co-founder of Elm City Community Music School.
